gnome battery indicator missing in 12.04/12.10

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

This happens with Awesome as the window manager, too.

In my instance it appears that the battery indicator is there in that I can click on it to get to the power settings drop down menu, I just can't see the icon. However, if I change the theme I can see the icon except in Radiance. ie:

Adwaita: works
Ambiance: broken
Radiance: broken
High Contrast: works
High Contrast Inverse: works

Same here with Unity in 2D mode. Upgraded to 12.04 from 11.10.

The "System Settings -> Power -> Show battery status in the menu bar" setting is working only when XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP is Unity. Changing that combobox sets icon-policy in com.canonical.indicator.power to one of these values: present, charge, never.

With these settings and relogin, the power indicator shows up in Unity just fine, but still not in Gnome Classic:
gsettings set com.canonical.indicator.power icon-policy present
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power active true

Any idea where to look for error messages?

I did "ps aux | grep indicator" while in Unity, with the power indicator visible, but there is no relevant process. Any idea what process is using the indicator-power library?

Odd thing, Your scripts are using /proc/acpi/.... In my case there is no such a folder.
Mine Ubuntu 12.04 has information about battery in different files at /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/.

I'm not a programer but here is mine script.
Beware sometimes it has a problem after resuming from the standby. I do not know why :-(.

That script is in Python, not sh, so it shuld have extension .py, not .sh

I have /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/ too, I wasn't aware of that. I have Ubuntu 12.04, too.

I updated the battery module in my github repo to use the acpi command.

Is that still an issue? Could somebody having the issue get a "upower --dump" log and take a screenshot showing the issue?

Incidentally, I no longer have the "Show battery status in the menu bar" option in power settings at all.

Can anyone tell me that the daemon version 0.9.17 is compatible with windows 10 because I am getting windows update error 80070103 continuously for that I also checked https://errorcode0x.com/windows-update-error-80070103/ but did not get the valid solution to fix this.
