Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

(I'm using fully updated 64bit Karmic)

Whenever I change my pidgin status (available, away, etc) using indicator-applet-session, pidgin says my MSN account has been disabled because I logged in from another place!

This does not happen when I use pidgin's built-in icon tray menu.

Do you have your MSN account configured in Empathy as well? It is
probably trying to log on there.

  status incomplete

Changed in indicator-applet (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Nice guess :)
Removing my empathy accounts fixed it.

Is this the normal behavior?

This problem affects me too.

I used Empathy but then installed Pidgin, so I have my account set up on both. indicator-applet-session launches empathy even if pidgin is already running, resulting in disconnecting pidgin from the net.
Indeed if someone sends a message while pidgin's account is disabled, empathy's contact list will appear as well as its notification bubble.
I guess this shouldn't be the right behaviour.

This problem even occurs if you uninstall empathy - to fix, I've had to reinstall and delete the accounts. Certainly not the behaviour I'd desire.

@Joel: right!
I also removed empathy, but this error occures.
Surely, libempathy-common is the problem, but I can't remove it, because that would also remove other packages, including indicator-applet-session, indicator-session, ubuntu-desktop.

Yes it's still an issue in Lucid.
I've setup my account in empathy, then desinstalled empathy and installed pidgin. The bug occured at this point.
To fix it, I had to reinstall empathy, delete my MSN account, and re-desinstall empathy.
quite hard :)
