Bug Description
Binary package hint: debian-installer
I tried to install 8.10 from alternate cd on my 17" G4 1,5Ghz Powerbook.
Installer can´t find my dvd/cd-drive (4x superdrive, MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-825), so I couldn´t install.
Funny thing is, it boots fine and starts the installer. Then I get to select my keyboard, but I cannot continue since installer somehow "loses" optical drive.
I tried to manually enter correct location, but alas I am not competent enough to find my dvd-drive from /dev :(
To post a comment you must log in.
...and the solution is here:
After autodetection of cd-drive fails, switch to virtual terminal and enter:
modprobe ide-scsi
Then switch back to installer, re-autodetect your superdrive and you are good to go.
