Bug Description

Binary package hint: human-icon-theme

I am jaunty with latest updates installed and human theme. In the confirmation dialog for logout action of fusa or in the panel menu for logout, the icon shown looks like shutdown icon. This is confusing visually.

I can confirm the bug.

The new fusa version that is proposed for jaunty is also affected. (2.24.0-0ubuntu10)

(The bug seems to be unrelated to fusa because the gnome logout screen has the same icon)

This was a design decision from the Canonical design team. Not that it is perfect, but it was decided to be better than the alternatives

Kenneth, are there any details of this decision? Specifically I'd like to check where it was decided to use this icon.

It seems to me it's ok to use the metaphor of "Power button" to mean "logout" or "switch user" (albeit weird), but it's not ok to use this metaphor twice in the same menu; e.g. in my system menu I see two "Power button" icons and that's really confusing. The same goes on the UNR logout dialog.

Thanks,

We didn't take any minutes, if that is what you mean. Essentially it was decided to use this icon as it was better than the alternatives. I can see the evident issues with this but for now the decision sticks (until we have something better)
