Bug Description
Binary package hint: hibernate
Hibernate and suspend (sleep in lucid) only blanks monitor.
My machine is a sony vaio laptop, with ATI HD 3470 Mobility graphics
What I expected of sleep:
In Karmic, suspend will cause the following;
1. screen to blank (black)
2. laptop light to change from green to orange, and blink
3. fans to stop
In Lucid, alpha 3 (latest updates) what happens for sleep;
1. screen goes blank (black)
2. light remains green and constant
3. fans remain on
4. No change in laptop 'alertness'.
5. A touch of the space bar brings up immediately (too fast for it to be sleeping in any way) the authentication dialog.
In Karmic, Hibernate will cause the following;
1. screen to blank,
2. screen goes to console
3. messages , errors, eventual shutdown.
4. On laptop start-up, laptop resumes from previous state
In Lucid, alpha 3 (latest updates) what happens for hibernate
1. screen goes blank (black)
2. light remains green and constant
3. fans remain on
4. No change in laptop 'alertness'.
5. A touch of the space bar brings up immediately (too fast for it to be sleeping in any way) the authentication dialog.
Please let me know what further information I can provide.
I experience the described behaviour on Compal HEL 80 with Lucid beta when attempting to hibernate or suspend.
