Bug Description

Binary package hint: helix-player

seems debian has dropped helix-player and we are behind upstream

this bug should track the progress of:

 1. investigating why debian removed helix
 2. updating helix to latest upstream

Hello, the milestone will be reached in 2 days. What's the status of this bug? I'm writing because of bug #501537 I filed.

Removal has been requested in 2007 by its maintainer Daniel Baumann:

"""please remove helix-player from Debian. It has been a constant pain
about build regression, security issues and other problems. As other
players such as xine and mplayer do also support it's formats,
helix-player is not even usefull anymore."""

Deferring to beta 2. We either update for beta 2 or drop from archive.

Apparently helix-player was removed from Lucid two months ago, because of #515694.

Yes, I forgot to update this. As it's already removed from archive in Debian and Ubuntu, I will move my focus elsewhere. Someone else is welcome to update this if they like.
