Bug Description

Binary package hint: gwibber

Even when manually reloading with CTRL-R, Gwibber only loads out of some sort of internal cache, and can't post anything. So basically, it's completely useless, as opposed to just frustrating (I look forward to the day I can type a whole tweet without it freezing up, but that's a bug for another day).

Oddly enough, while Gwibber usually knows it's disconnected and disables the Tweet entry section, that isn't happening right now. I can type in it and submit it, it's just that it Twitter.com never receives it. It looks to me like the lines of communication, so to speak, are broken, and Gwibber just doesn't know it. I had to restart anyways to update my kernel, but apparently this isn't a fix-it-with-a-restart problem.

Another bit of info that may help you: I was trying to use Gwibber on my college's wifi awhile back, and it was waiting for authentication, which it gets by sending redirect responses to redirect you to a login page on the college server. It's weird and hacky, I know. So is it possible that the wifi fed Gwibber some funny packets and it choked on them? Seems like the sort of thing that a restart should have fixed, but you never know.

Official list of data:
  Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx
Gwibber version 2.30.1-0ubuntu1 (according to apt-cache)
  Expected Gwibber to update feed
Instead, it loads for awhile, then displays the last data it loaded for that channel. On new channels, the stream is blank.

The problem is that twitter have disabled their basic authentication support which made gwibber not being able to update. the solution to the problem is to enable lucid-proposed repository from System>Administration>Software Sources and update your gwibber. twitter should work fine after that.
