Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hello all!
Nautilus shows blank window when I try to get shares list on a remote server sometimes. Pressing refresh button solves the problem (someimes it takes multiple refreshes to get the list). 'smbclient -NL server' works perfectly. No problems with Windows clients also. This makes me conclude that something's wrong with Nautilus. Server is Karmic Server of course.

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

Changed in nautilus (Ubuntu):

Hi ubuntu developers.

The same situation ocurrs when I use NFS and automount option.

When I am out of the local net where I share the directories it take too much time,
and then it shows a blank windows.

May I delete the NFS share option?

Thank you for your help.

Kenneth

Another question. Is there a possibiliy for me to help you find the bug? It is Nautilus that I suspect, but I couldn't find where it writes logs to. Do you need some additional info from me? This bug is very annoying for me.

Will it be fixed? Just curious... Why the importance is set to "low" for Christ's sake?! I still can't offer Karmic as a solution for our clients because of the bug! Is there a chance I can help fixing the bug somehow? Thank you in advance!

This one also affects me, with Ubuntu 9.10. But how come, it's Ubuntu specific bug. This one doesn't happen in sidux. Also, working on Linux Mint 8. As far as I can remember, this does not happened in ubuntu dapper.

Thank you for helping with making Ubuntu and its file manager Nautilus better by reporting this bug. However, a report upstream indicates that this is not an issue with the file manager, but with GVFS, the underlying framework responsible for the communication with the shares.
I'm assigning this bug to gvfs and am linking it to the upstream bug report.
