GStreamer doesn't play any audio from my 3GPP files

Thank you for reporting this bug. I am not able to reproduce this and I am not aware of what video player you used to play it. The video played fine with totem and if i recall correctly the plugin for gstreamer that handles this codec is in the gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg package. Please install that package and see if you still have this bug.

The video plays fine, but the audio does not. I played it back with totem, but gstreamer is obviously the culprit here -- yet the real bug may be that the automatic codec installation doesn't work.

Also, are you sure you meant to assign this to yourself?

I have this under Hardy. Below is Totem's konsole output (no hard out debugging symbols or anything, sorry, haven't read up on all that)
NB I'm using Xubuntu Hardy. I installed Gnome Settings Demon a few hours ago for something else, but I'm still in XFCE4
3gp Video appears fine but without sound. Video created on Nokia 6234. Beware my comment in the console output.

Searching the repositories only showed good bad and ugly codec sets and plugins, none of which seemed helpful. I installed good, bad AND ugly, to no avail.
Google didn't show up a lot of promising information. I might try later in Gnome and see if that helps (!!!!)
Thanks guys. I hope the konsole output is of at least some use anyway, not that I really seemed to cover anything that Alexander Jones didn't?

Note the comments near the bottom, apparently it's on wishlist because of licensing issues - basically thereby meaning we can't have this feature for now.
It also seems to offer a workaround, I may try it but probably won't report my result.
Suddenly it all makes sense, how unfortunate :-)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

8.10 fail

So does 9.04

amr files are produced by Voice Recorder in most models of Nokia mobile.

Same on Ubuntu amd64 9.04, doesn't work with Sony Ericsson w810i codec, whereas the realplayer works

I used the medibuntu repository, installed:

You have to use mplayer (or smplayer) to play your files. Cheers!

It seems to me that gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg was already installed in 9.04 either by the 1st time setup or by one of the regular updates. I think I did not do it. However, what I want to inform here is that with 9.04 which follows regular updates installation of ffmpeg either by sudo apt-get or Synaptic makes Totem able to play gppp video files. There will be a pop-up saying that required codec was missing. If so just ignore it then the file will continue to show. Thanks a lot, Savvas.
