Bug Description
Binary package hint: grub
I have karmic and all updates as of yesterday, 20 Aug 2009.
I had the generic nvidia driver, but it was misbehaving, flashing black, so I properly installed the proprietary driver.
When I re-booted, the boot sequence couldn't find the driver.
I did
sudo dpk-reconfigure xserver-xorg
then I rebooted
nothing
then I regenerated my boot menu and re-booted
nothing
Right now I am on vacation have no access to hardwire connection but can test anything that does not require an internet connection.

These are the last lines before the boot stops. I didn't see any other boot failures other than virtual box, which has always shown as 'fail'
'user'-desktop login: * Stopping NTP server ntpd
* Starting NTP server ntpd
Other than the shell root, I have no access to Karmic at all.
