gourmet crashes upon adding "nutritional facts" plugin

opened Gourmet, opened the "plugin" menu and clicked the check box for "nutritional information". It seemed to had frozen at "parsing nutritional information", so I tried clicking the pause button, but it didnt respond. So i then tried to close the program by clicking the "x" button that is placed at the top right of the program (like per usual), but there was no response.
  I then tried to clicking on other things on my desktop, but everything was unresponsive. after a while, the force quit screen popped up, then i closed it and ran the "ubuntu-bug gourmet" command.

 If i can provide any other information, i would be more than happy to!
