gnucash won't launch under twm

Bug Description

gnucash won't launch under twm. works in lucid and natty, fails in precise and quantal. here is the quantal failure:

$ gnucash
WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to: /run/user/g/keyring-vi5jI0/pkcs11: No such file or directory

gnc.gui:ERROR:gnc-icons.c:74:gnc_add_stock_icon_pair: assertion failed: (pixbuf1 && pixbuf2)

after installing lubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso and apt-get dist-upgrade, gnucash runs successfully under twm. then, after

apt-get install edubuntu-desktop xubuntu-desktop kubuntu-desktop

gnucash no longer runs under twm, giving the error given above
