Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

There are several ways to integrate Baobab functionality in Nautilus. One would be to just add a button with the text "analyze space usage", that would call Baobab on that folder. Please see the mockup:

Another would be to add a "space usage" tab, with the Baobab pie chart on it. Something like this:

The first solution would be much easier to apply, but the second one would be much more integrated.

could you also attach directly the .png to the bug rather than giving an URL to an another website and attaching a rar archive?

Sure, no problem. I thought creating a single attachment would be less of a hassle, I'll bear it in mind next time.

I assume you mean attaching it to the bug upstream, but I'll attach the images here too just in case.

Baobab works only on folders, not on single files.
The tab would probably require a nautilus extension shipped with baobab, while
the button would require nautilus to search for baobab in the path or for the
baobab desktop file and execute it on click. But, as I said, it should work only
on folders, not on single files.

I think this "bug" should be closed now that nautilus-actions is available in Ubuntu.

To link baobab with Nautilus just install nautilus-actions

sudo apt-get install nautilus-actions

Launch the nautilus-actions configuration tool

System->Preferences->Nautilus Application Actions Configuration

Add a new action

Label appropriately. e.g. Analyze disk usage
Set the tool tip appropriately: e.g. A graphical tool to analyze disk usage.
Set whatever icon you want: e.g. /usr/share/pixmaps/baobab.xpm

Edit the main profile

Set the path to: /usr/bin/baobab
Set the parameters to: %f

On the Conditions tab select to appear only for folders

That's it!

Correction:

The parameter for the command should be %M instead of %f
