gnome-terminal not remembering menubar preference

Bug Description

I use to not show the menu bar in my session so that I always unset this option to off, however now in Oneiric seems like is not saving this preference (I haven't tried with other options yet) so in resume when you open a new session gnome-terminal shows me the menu bar again.

steps to reproduce
1 - Open gnome-terminal
2- unset Display the menu bar
3- close gnome-terminal
4- Open again gnome-terminal and you will see the menu bar displayed (Expected behaviour is not displayed)

Thanks for your report.

I can reproduce this in gnome (without the global-menu) Setting to triage/medium.
In Unity it is not applicable since the menu is integrated to the top panel (bug 728040)

As I just mentioned in a duplicate:

The menu bar's mnemonic accellerators conflict with a commonly used Bash keybinding: Alt-F - move forward a word.

Thus not being able to prevent the menu bar from showing by default has a strong negative impact on the usability of gnome-terminal.

Is this really a dup of bug #787465? This has nothing to do with the global menu. Perhaps the addition of the global menu causes this bug?

I don't believe this is a dupe of bug #787465? I'm not using Unity - in fact I'm on gnome-session-fallback, and this problem relates directly to gnome-terminal.

I have a single profile set up in gnome-terminal (Default). This has "Show menubar by default in new terminals" set to unticked, however opening a new terminal always shows the menubar. This is the case if I open a terminal from the nautilus context menu, terminal context menu or the main applications menu.

In fact, opening a new window, and clicking on the "View" menu shows the option Show Menubar unselected (Despite the fact the menubar is present). You have to select the option before you can unselect it and get rid of the menubar.

I'm using gnome shell on oneiric
I tried several times and several command line options, including --hide-menubar.
Nothing works.
The menu bar appears half a second after the window is created and the prompt is presented on it.
It's realy anoying me
I'm sure a global menu for Gnome-shell will solve my case, but it won't solve the issue

I also think this is not a duplicate of bug #787465, theres no global menu involved here. Might be related thou.

I can remove the menubar by selecting "display menubar" 2 times in the menu.
First time, it does nothing. Second time, it works.
So, we shall say it's "half-broken".

It has nothing to do with "global menu". I'm not using Unity. I'm using Gnome Shell.

It's really annoying : Alt-D isn't usable in bash, and I use this shortcut a lot.

This is very related to the global menu. I had the same issue in XFCE4 until I removed the global menu packages.

This is still present on Precise. As a workaround, I use gconf-editor to unset /apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/default_show_menubar key, but I'd rather gnome-terminal to remember my preferences, as is the expected behavior.
