Bug Description
Distro: Ubuntu 20.04
Gnome: 3.36.2
gnome-software 3.36.0-0ubuntu3
gnome-software-
gnome-software-
When I select an application (e.g. Inkscape) I expect to see both snap packages and deb packages.
Gnome-software for Inkscape only offered 3 versions of snap packages:-
latest/stable 1.0-6e3e5246a0-
latest/candidate 1.0-5426eaae79-
latest/edge 1.1-dev-
The deb package for Inkscape 0.92.5-1ubuntu1.1 was not offered.
I do not know if this is only Inkscape or whether this behaviour affects other applications.
I would think that it would be better for gnome-software to suggest stable packages (whether snap or deb) before listing candidate and edge snaps.
Temporarily, I have removed gnome-software-
I can re-install the snap plugin when I may need a certain snap package.
If I click on Inkscape in Editor's Picks, I am only offered snap packages.
However, if I enter the Graphics and Photography section, I can locate the Inkscape deb package.
I would be surprised if this is deliberate behaviour.
It must be particularly baffling for new users who lack the knowledge of alternative package formats.
