When opening the aggregate menu for the first time the speaker icon shows bigger than expected, then shortly shrinks to normal size. Unconfirmed wether it affects other icons.

This really makes us want to fix it *eyeroll*

This is all that was needed, really.

Does this still happen on a Wayland? An updated recording of the bug would also be helpful as the one in comment 2 is gone.

Thanks. Can you also provide a screenshot? I wonder if this is related to the giant icon rendering bug 1718238.

Here is a gif of the problem. I should add that I'm using virtualbox if this is anyhow connected.

So this giant icon only happens for the first time you click on the tray drop-down menu.

Bug persists in Gnome 3.28.2, Wayland session, Arch Linux.
It's more noticeable when shell becomes slower after some hours using my laptop.
I recorded a screencast.

I can't confirm.
Still happening on Arch Linux after upgrade to Gnome 3.36.
It's less noticeable at least.
