Bug Description

Currently tooltips with warnings about low disk space on my Windows volumes pop up upon each login. They are extremely annoying and cannot be disabled. Please either provide an option to disable/configure them or eliminate this code altogether, if you don't have time for that.

I agree. This must be optional.

The recent gnome-volume-manager 1.5.15-0ubuntu1 has a lot of fixes for the notifications and should behave a lot better. However, it still does not allow you to selectively disable notifications for particular drives. I will ask upstream about that.

I have a suggestion in how solving this bug. I have seen gnome-volume-manager source code and I found inside manager.c the call to show the "Low Disk Space" message. The condition in order to show this message does not have an external variable. Adding one new user parameter to gnome-volume-manager can solve this problem. This solution will deactivate the message in any way. There are many solutions like configuring the disks that will show the message.

Right. Preferably you should submit the bug to the Gnome bug tracker,
so that it can be inspected by upstream. Getting a solution which
upstream adopts is much better than maintaining a difference in
Ubuntu, since it both creates more work and introduces inconsistency
in behaviour.

I would like to help with this one if for no other reason than to get started contributing. I haven't been able to find the source. I got the latest from svn from debian but no source files. Any help getting started appreciated.

Thanks,

eeevans

This does not apply to gnome-volume-manager in Hardy any more, since nautilus now does all the mounting/unmounting. Nautilus does not yet provide low disk space notifications.

In karmic I'm getting these warnings about once a minute for a couple of read-only NFS mounts! Very irritating.
