Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

When I close and reopen my laptop lid, the theme changes from 'human' to one of the blue ones. Opening the System->Preferences->Appearance window will fix this, I don't have to change the theme, simply opening the window corrects the issue.

 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: gnome-control-center
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-4-generic i686

This doesn't look like a control center bug - this sounds like gnome-settings-daemon is crashing. Please try to obtain a backtrace of gnome-settings-daemon as it crashes, following the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

Can't access launchpad :(

Followed the steps at DebuggingProgramCrash and Backtrace. Attached the GDB log.

Also ran Valgrind, since I saw a Segmentation Fault error in gdb. Valgrind makes me re-start gnome-settings-daemon under its control. This begins AFTER gnome-settings-daemon has crashed.

$ G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon

The program loaded, threw the error "** (gnome-settings-daemon:6492): CRITICAL **: gnome_rr_config_free: assertion `config != NULL` failed"
Then returned my bash prompt to me and threw a gnome-screensaver error and finally fixed my window theme. I close and reopen my laptop screen and it goes back to the blueness. I've attached the gdb and valgrind logs.

Thanks, but your backtrace is missing a lot of debugging symbols. Please can you install libgtk2.0-0-dbg and libglib2.0-0-dbg.

Thanks
