gnome-settings activation freezes computer

Ubuntu Sauncy 13.10 fresh install todays ISO -10/11/2013
AMD64, 4gb ram, nouveau
Every time I open gnome-settings to make any changes to settings. Trying to close the window, freezes to computer.
It appears I can set any of the settings, but when clicking on the "x" to close the window is usually when it freezes.

After further analysis I believe the problem is in the integrated video: nvidia 6150se nforce 430.
This problem occurs both using Ubuntu 13.10 Unity and Ubuntu-gnome 13.10
When I installed nvidia-304 proprietary program it doesn't happen.
So the bottom line is nouveau is the problem area and needs attention.
