Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-schedule

OS Version: Ubuntu 9.10
Application Version: 2.1.0-0Ubuntu1

Open gnome-schedule from Applications > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks.
Click on Manage Templates icon from top of main window.
Click New from top of Manage Templates window.
Click either one time or recurring, doesn't matter.
Fill in template name and command (Test and ls, for example) and click Add at the bottom.
Now highlight new template and click Edit above.
I should be able to edit the template name and/or command but instead nothing happens. No error, just nothing.

The template can be deleted, but not modified. Also, the result is the same if the template is saved from an existing task. I didn't see anything concerning this in the change log of 2.11 which appears to be the latest stable version. If you need me to build that and confirm it is still an issue, I can do so tomorrow on my test system (python-gtk2-dev adds a bunch of stuff I don't need). Let me know if you need additional information.

Thanks, this is a handy little tool.

I've tried two more things today. I installed 2.1.1 from Universe on the current build of Lucid and found that I could edit templates that were recurring but those designed for one-time events still can't be edited - no response at all when I click on the edit icon as above.

I also built 2.1.1 from the latest source on Karmic and installed over 2.1.0. This resulted in the same as above, recurring works, one-time doesn't (better than none but still not right).

I would like to do some more testing on Karmic, but I need some help. What files must be deleted to completely remove all traces of gnome-schedule? I tried a full purge and reinstall, but the templates were still there. I even deleted the template references from GConf and they reappeared on a fresh install. I can't seem to find where gnome-schedule keeps this data. Thanks.

Hey David,

do you still have this problem?

To completely clean out gnome-schedule you need to delete the ~/.gnome/gnome-schedule dir and in gconf (use gconf-editor) delete /apps/gnome-schedule <- this is where the templates are stored.

Hi,

could you please try if this is a problem in the latest version of GNOME Schedule, available at http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-schedule and retrievable with 'git':

  $ git clone http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-schedule

I can still not reproduce this problem, and a lot have been fixed and improved in the minor versions upstream (2.1.3). And a new (minor) one is coming up soon..
