Bug Description

When I have a public computer like a coffee shop, I hate when it prompts for password on resume from standby, but I also hate using lots of power by turning off standby mode. Can we get this as a simple checkbox in one of the gnome preferences?

It's a simple gconf key at /apps/gnome-power-manager, but it seems like this could easily be a checkmark in a simple gui.

I would very much like to see this happen too- the logical place for these options for me would be to add them to the security tab of gdmconfig or maybe add a new 'Lock' tab to gdmconfig aka the GNOME login preferences tool. gdmconfig certainly needs some gui lovin/ streamlining.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue , in the default Ubuntu 9.10 install , that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of the project.

feature request is not a papercut

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "invalid" ONLY in the papercuts project.

Changed in hundredpapercuts:

I would also like to see a quick and easy toggle of prompt for password on awake form hibernate or suspend.
