description |
Testing the latest Ubuntu Beta (Intrepid Ibex) with all the latest updates as of October 16. After a lot of years I can finally hibernate my laptop (Acer Aspire 5315).
The most annoying bug that still haunts my Ubuntu installations is related to the lcd brightness. When starting up and loading the ACPI module I can see the brightness going to 100%, as soon X starts (gdm) it resets itself to the lowest setting until I login and Gnome loads its power-manager when it sets it again at maximum.
If I hibernate the system and after waking up brightness resets itself to the lowest setting again. Don't know if it's a gnome related bug or a kernel one, but the problem remains.
If there is a way of setting the brightness to the level users want via a 'pre-gdm start' script or post-hibernate script the problem would be solved. |
