Power manager reports ridiculous time remaining

Bug Description

Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron

gnome-power-manager

MSI Wind

When I unplug my laptop from the AC, the battery icon says that it has 500,000 hours remaining. This sum is obviously wrong. The percentage seems to decrease correctly and the Battery Charge Monitor (when added to the panel) reports the correct discharging time. I have no idea what could be causing the computer to report this long of battery time remaining.

Any idea on what I could do to get it fixed?

I found that deleting the cache file that power manager has for the battery fixed the problem.
