Bug Description

If you try to create a launcher, then realize that, after typing the location of the file you want to launch, Application was selected instead of Location, you can change the type of launcher to Location, but, upon inspecting the created launcher, the location wasn't saved. See attached screenshots.

Yes, this is reproducible on Ubuntu 8.04 (I haven't tried it on other versions).

To reproduce the problem, right click on the desktop and choose to create a Launcher. Type in a location (http:// or file:// will work fine for this example), then change the type of Launcher from Application to Location. When you try to open the launcher you just created, it fails; if you inspect the launcher, the location you entered earlier "disappeared".

If you first change the type of launcher from Application to Location, then enter a location, creating a Launcher works as expected.

you need to enter the URL as a command and then change the launcher type, really a corner case and a small issue

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance.

This still occurs in 11.04. If one chooses to create a launcher, types "http://www.google.com/" by the label "Command:", realizes that "Location" should be selected as opposed to "Application" and changes that (at which point, the label "Command:" changes to "Location:"), types some name for the new launcher and creates it, it is created but does not function.
