Cannot customize user session sound effects

Binary package hint: gnome-media

In karmic gnome-volume-control doesn't allow the user to to customize the sound to a wav file (for example). There are only themes and no way to easily create/specify theme sound effects.

Please note that this is not related to login/logout sounds which are handled by GDM and specified in Bug #437429
