gnome-launch-box hangs sometimes

Bug Description

The problem here is that sometimes (say 1 out of 5) gnome-launch-box hangs. Then you can see the 'gnome-launch-box'-box but it doesn't respond on keyboard input anymore. The only thing that can be done is to kill the process and start gnome-launch-box again.
I use gnome-launch-box 0.2-0ubuntu1 and invoke it with a global-hotkey from Compiz Fusion. The command I use is "gnome-launch-box -t" but the same problem happens when started without the "-t" switch.

I'm getting the same problem here. Running 7.10, didn't notice this issue happening when running 7.04 (but that may be a coincidence - I installed gnome-launch-box only a few days before I upgraded).

It seems for me more like 1/3 of the time gnome-launch-box opens but then doesn't get keyboard input requiring that I kill it. It seems to work all the time if I open it up again right after I have killed the process.

Like the user above I'm using compiz to launch the application. I can try using the application without compiz enabled to see if I get the same issue.

I've tried gnome-launch-box on both 7.10 and 8.04 (fully updated), and I can confirm this bug.

First time I run it it runs fine, but the second time it always fails, and I have to kill gnome-launch-box. The "dialog" opens up, but it doesn't respond to keyboard input, like in the description above.

gnome-do seems to work, so you might want to try that out until it gets fixed.

By the way: I guess making a script that kills gnome-launch-box before it launches it again would be a quick workaround.

#!/bin/bash
killall gnome-launch-box
gnome-launch-box -t

If you save this script as gnome-launch-box-startup.sh, you should be able to bind a key to the script using gconf-editor (e.g. /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_1 to gnome-launch-box-startup.sh and /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_1 to <Alt>space).

Haven't tried it though.
