Bug Description

Ubuntu Precise Development Branch. 12.04

Ref Bug report #966574 and #964685.

indicator-applet fails to display high contrast icons when high contrast theme used.

Fails basic Accessibility Standards.

Multiple High Contrast and High Contrast Inverse Icons needed to replace default icons which are presently poor and inaccessible.

Amusingly - the one high contrast icon that was right in the app indicator is the volume control - but only in High Contrast. Change to high contrast inverse and it vanishes and not even a basic default to replace it.

Power button also need to be in high contrast.

Issues can be seen in screen print - https://launchpadlibrarian.net/98309253/Screenshot.png

Changed in gnome-control-center (Ubuntu):

I believe this issue is in indicator-applet or similar, not gnome-control-center, please assign to the correct package

Hi all,

I stumbled here on accident, but maybe I can make an useful contribution to this issue. I have been updating the standard (Xfce) High Contrast theme, as many icons are missing. Not just "indicator applet", but also many application, action and places icons.

You can see my progress here: http://xfce-look.org/content/show.php?action=content&content=151928

It is not anywhere near a solution for this issue, but maybe it can help the Ubuntu Accessibility team to move to a more complete solution quicker.
