Applications can no longer access your @gmail.com Online Account

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Notification when starting Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS:

Applications can no longer access your @gmail.com Online Account. Choose Online Accounts from the user menu to reinstate access to this account.

Clicking "Provide Access" in Online Accounts doesn't seem to do anything, notification appears again on next login. Removing Google account and adding again doesn't solve either.

When can we expect fixes for this bug?

the problem seems to be related to evolution-data-server to access google calendar. May be this helps to get closer to the bug. The problem is really annoying especially to ordinary users.

i still have this notification on every startup for 2 google accounts

Ran apt-get upgrade last week, works again!

This issue still persists in 14.10.

Sometimes, the (re)authorization tool shows a full Google-themed screen with username/password prompt, and sometimes (most of the times, actually) only a simple two-liner without any theme that pertains to Google. What should it be?

Frustrating issue, considering that all my Google Calendar data seems to be not updating ...

After seeing this question on AskUbuntu http://askubuntu.com/questions/511370/applications-can-no-longer-access-your-online-account I noticed a screenshot and comment about (apparently) Chromium affecting locale settings. The most recent app I installed is Chromium.

Can I ask if any of you still affected by this issue have installed Chromium? (I'm no expert, but after weeks of it working it seems beyond coincidence).

Update: After uninstalling Chromium and re-enabling access to the Google account and Exchange services it is all working again and has survived two or three reboots.

This bug still affects Ubuntu 17.04. Uninstalling and re-installing chromium-browser has not helped.

This bug is still present in 17.04 with Gnome. I don't think it was an issue until I entered the information for my Google account in Online Accounts. Now, the error pops up at every login and is quite annoying.

I have tried to remove it, add it again, remove it and remove authorization via Google as well as adding it and turning off all applications. Nothing works.

After my most recent Ubuntu 16.04 LTS update (that required both an authorization password request and a post-installation reboot) the following message appears briefly in a small window in the top right corner of the screen after I sign into Ubuntu:

"Applications can no longer access your [@ATT.net email address] online account. Choose Online Accounts from the user menu to reinstate access to this account."

I looked at Online Accounts. All that currently appears there is my identification as administrator, my Ubuntu sign-on name (not an email address) and my password with a clickable button for viewing my sign on history.

Since the only thing unique about the referenced ATT.net email address is that it's the only email address issued to me by AT&T, my Internet provider that I only use for paying my monthly AT&T bill. I doubt that it has ever been listed with my Ubuntu sign-on name. So I have no idea if "Applications can no longer access your [@ATT.net email address] online account." should mean something to me. I'm not entering the AT&T address and password, and not identifying whether or not the account is Administration. I suppose I'll find out soon enough that's a problem. While I'm still a new user of Ubuntu, I'm not a neophyte computer user. It is vexing to encounter these situations. I'd welcome any explanations that clarify what I'm being instructed to do, if anything.
