Searching for bluetooth devices forever

Bug Description

And what is worse: As long as it searches, I cannot select one of the devices that is has already found and click 'Forward'. The forward button is greyed out. See attached screenshot.
OS: Ubuntu 10.04

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. I have the same problem - trying to find a device and nothing besides the little circle of bubbles happens. No device, no connection no nothing.
I already read up on the problem. Maybe it has to do with the hardware? Could it be, that there is no supported bluetooth? It works fine under Windows 7 (on the same machine).
Is there a way to find out if there is a recognized bluetooth adapter? If so, could somebody please post the sudo for it?
It is annoying because besides the bluetooth problem ubuntu 13 runs great on my Fujitsu Lifebook A530.
