xgnokii just freezes after starting

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnokii

When starting xgnokii it doesn't accept any input and grays out shortly. Status window says "connecting..." forever.

Console output:
$ xgnokii
Couldn't read /home/vranki/.gnokiirc config file.
Couldn't read /home/vranki/.gnokiirc config file.

(xgnokii:7510): Gtk-WARNING **: horizontal scrolling not implemented

Telephone interface init failed: Command timed out.
Quitting.
Failed to open the phone. Quitting.

I haven't configured gnokii in any way yet. Tested on Intrepid.

You should first configure gnokii and then run xgnokii.

Application freezing is just as wrong as crashing. xgnokii should detect this situation and for example show a dialog.
Currently the only way of getting rid of the window is by killing it.
