Bug Description
I tried to follow through a workflow to add and commit a single file to a github repository.
Gitg reported that an unknown error had occurred and git had returned a non-zero error code.
When I ran git from the command line instead, it became obvious that git was complaining it needed user.email and user.name keys to be defined before I could commit the file.
Gitg should report the output of errored git invocations, else it's impossible to know what is going on under the hood. The error I received was unnecessarily mysterious, given that the git binary was reporting in detail what the nature of the error was.
