Bug Description

Use the directory listing window in the top-left of Geeqie to browse to a directory that contains a large number of image files. Upon opening that directory, the directory listing window and the file listing window are now both blank. They still respond correctly to mouse clicks (blindly made) -- clicking on where a file would be still causes that file to be displayed -- but they remain blank and unrendered until something causes the file listing window to scroll. As soon as the file listing window scrolls, both it and the directory listing finally get rendered.

A quick sample of my image directories shows that those containing 600 images or less do not cause the bug to manifest. Those containing 725 files or more do. I don't know where the exact dividing line is, but that should be a usable range. Populate a directory with 725 or more images to reproduce the bug.

Using Geeqie 1:1.4+git20180820-1 in Ubuntu 18.10, I see that it does render the directory listing window. The problem is that the window takes a long time to render. During that time I still see a photo and can go to the next photo via the space bar, but the image overlay with the histogram and other information is messed up, with the part over the black bar outside the photo not drawn properly.
