gedit is moving very slow

Bug Description

I am using Dapper and when I try to open a text file using gedit it takes very much time for the editor to load the file (abut 20-25 seconds for a 200k file) and it also takes very much time to scroll the text.

What sort of configuration do you have? Do you use some special options or plugins? Is that a simple text or some format using syntaxic coloration? Opening 1.7M of text takes around 15 seconds on my box ...

Does your file have very very long lines ? There are several bugs related to the fact that GtkTextView handling of very long lines makes it very slow to render.

The upstream bug is marked as RESOLVED OBSOLETE, this bug is not present in version 2.30.3 of gedit. Should this one be set to Fix released?
