Bug Description

In Xubuntu 20.04 beta the underscore is not shown in the editor window. The standard font is Monospace Regular, size 10.

Workaround:
Use "Liberation Mono Regular" font or increase the default editor font size to 16 in Geany Interface preferences.

As for https://github.com/geany/geany/issues/2466#issuecomment-610710741 could the default line_height be changed in the package?

I am seeing this same problem, and a workaround is to use Liberation Mono Regular font. For whatever design reason, the underscores are visible in Geany with this font. Not an ideal solution, but it is a workaround that lets you keep using Geany.

Thanks Richard Merren. This workaround solved my problem and I can continue to use Geany (still, since the bug remains, many users are possibly abandoning this software).

For other users with the same problem, you can change Editor font following
Edit -> Preferences -> Interface
and, then, change Fonts: Editor to Liberation Mono Regular

Sadly, Ubuntu has an old version of it.
