Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
When I change my locale settings for LANG and LANGUAGE in /etc/environment and /etc/default/locale and issue 'reload gdm', gdm greeter does not read those files and therefor does not notice the locale change for the greeting screen. Instead, the previous settings are used.
Only after killing gdm with 'service gdm restart', the locale changes are taking effect. This, however, kills the running X session instantly and is therefor not the desired solution.

Confirmed the code has comments about the need to add back the code doing this in the new version
