Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
Hi
Sometimes in the karmic cycle, after the new gdm came in, gdm would do the ecryptfs dance AFTER checking for ~/.xsessionrc or ~/.dmrc. This obviously broke language and session saving but also my environment settings in .xsessionrc.
Then came:
gdm (2.28.0-0ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low
* New upstream release (LP: #434354)
[...]
- Now the user's dmrc and face image files are stored in /var/cache/gdm, so
that the login process does not need to access the user's $HOME directory
before authentication.
I think it solved half of the problem, and I understand why it's needed since the gdm screen shows the user's session details at the bottom of the screen, but it's still needed to do the PAM init stuff before looking up xsessionrc.
Thanks,
