Bug Description

Binary package hint: likewise-open

this bug is tied to #192598, because it's really uncomfortable for users to type their username in the "domain\user" format, at least GDM should have support for a drop down domain choice or something like that (novell linux does that but maybe it uses kdm).

opensuse/novell already has this feature (maybe it was kdm, i can't remember), maybe looking at their code could help

This patch is used by the current version of OpenSuse (gdm 2.20, at least), so please ignore version in file-name.

Also, to see the domain selection box, likewise open should probably be patched to add/remove ShowDomain=true to/from the config file....

Removing likewise-open: if GDM implementation shows that something also needs to be done on likewise-open side, please reopen the task.

There is a bug about that on http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=554032 and opensuse gdm changes too

We had a session on that topic at UDS Karmic. I think it was as the dx-karmic-integrated-active-directory-logon blueprint.
