Bug Description

This is a wishlist item.

Please introduce Unicode character 'PILE OF POO' (U+1F4A9) in future versions of the Ubuntu font.
It could be quite useful for changelogs, or for certain email communications.

This block can be tackled if and when somebody comes forward to do it.

We're design driven. If we have to do poo, let's make it an elegant one ;-)

The following article by Scott Hanselman notes that many cloud logos are based about a 1:1.6-golden-ratio:

There is only one Cloud Icon in the Entire Universe (Scott Hanselman)

Perhaps a similar approach would work!

A Fibonacci spiral would serve as the base design. Classic spin direction seems to be clockwise, but that might be biased to the northern hemisphere.

It doesn't look like Ubuntu is using the "lastresort" approach to "backup" the Ubuntu font when the Ubuntu font cannot represent any particular Unicode character--

(Jason, please report the Last Resort problem as a separate bug.)

Of the 742 glyphs in "Miscellaneous Symbols And Pictographs", very few of them are likely to include typographic glyphs which would benefit from being consistent with the Ubuntu font:
- 1F4A4 SLEEPING SYMBOL
- 1F4B2 HEAVY DOLLAR SIGN
- 1F4F4 MOBILE PHONE OFF
- 1F5DA INCREASE FONT SIZE
and a few others.

So I think these symbols would be better implemented in a font (or color pseudo-font) separate from the Ubuntu font.

To clarify, I think all the Miscellanous Symbols and Pictographs, *except* (and possibly even including) the few that contain typographic symbols, should be a separate font.

Paul, this bug report is specifically about including emoji in the Ubuntu font. Bug reports about rendering or shipping any other emoji font should be reported separately.
