can not activate ibus to type Chinese in fontforge

Bug Description
Binary package hint: fontforge
In Karmic, fontforge does not seem to play well with ibus. Typing English is fine, but Ctrl+Space can not activate ibus, the default Chinese input method.
To test this,first install fontforge, then open a Chinese font, for example
fontforge /usr/share/
then, from menu Windows\New Metrics Window, and try to type something in the input box at the top. If you type English, things are working fine, but you can not type Chinese, as Ctrl+Space stops working (copy&paste works).
