unable to view videos requiring latest Flash upgrade

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is still a problem and is mainly why I primarily use Linux Mint
as in its OS there is no problem(which is somewhat surprising as LM
is largely based on UBuntu)

I also encountered this problem yesterday, on Jaunty with Firefox 3.0.11+build2+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.04.1 and flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.22.87ubuntu2

The URL I encountered the problem on is http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2784428569/
I have no problem with YouTube videos. I did turn off AdBlock Plus as imdb.com suggested, but it did not help.

I have a similar problem too. Ubuntu amd64 9.04
A couple of examples: Youtube: can listen to the video's audio but cannot watch, black screen.
                                     Yahoo video: cannot listen and/or watch.

I have run this command sudo apt-get install alsa-oss which enabled the audio on Youtube, I couldn't run the rest as the command is not recognized.
Then I've installed the nonfree flashplugin, no luck.

If you tell me how to run a report of the system I will get back here and attach it.

Corxi: please disable all extensions than try. flashblokck will cause your issue as i recall but others can as well.

Corxi: your problem is not the same as reporters please file a new bug for yourself against flash

Wolfger: I am unable to reproduce this from your link can you try removing all extensions as well.

jaunty should have flashplugin-installer in repos (it is going to replace -nonfree soon not in stable releases though

OK, I went through all my extensions systematically, and discovered the reason I could not play the linked video. NoScript was blocking doubleclick.net, which was needed to get the movie to play. I have verified that both Firefox and Shiretoko can play this video if I instruct NoScript to allow that domain.

How do you instruct NoScript to allow the domain. Please help. Thanks
