Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox
When using the newest firefox from dapper-security, specifically
1.5dfsg+
and about firefox reports 1.5.0.12eol
I have the following problem.
Running a current Dapper system.
-Make sure firefox is *not* running.
-right click on a http:// link in gnome-terminal, and choose the option
'Open Link'
-firefox starts, and shows a blank page
-if you again right click on a link in gnome-terminal, and choose 'open
link, the link is displayed in firefox. so the problem is only when firefox
is not already running.
Using synaptic, I installed
1.5dfsg+
and about firefox reports 1.5.0.3
With this older version, with firefox not running, if you right click a link
firefox opens, and displays the desired page.
The same behavior can be duplicated with emacs and the 'browse-url'
function, which is why I am reporting this as a firefox bug and not a
gnome-terminal bug.
==========
Recently upgraded Firefox to 1.5.dfsg+
The Firefox wrapper script appears to "do the right thing" - ps shows a command like
/usr/
but Firefox loads its start page and the location bar is empty.
I tried launching firefox-bin directly just to confirm, and the behaviour is the same.
Thanks,
John Pearson.
could you please narrow down the regression window by installing the releases we did to dapper until you find the one that introduced this?
You can find the uploads we made https:/ /edge.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ dapper/ +source/ firefox
just start with the latest ... then go for the one before that and so on (until you find the release that doesnt show this anymore). Thanks!
