Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox-3.5
For further information, see:
http://
Some background:
After installing Ubuntu 9.10 with FF v3.5.3, I attempted to install the most recent Firebug beta release:
firebug-
When FF restarted, it crashed immediately, leaving only a core dump. As directed by the developers, I then downloaded the official Mozilla build of FF 3.5.3, and attempted to launch the browser using the same user profile with the Firebug extension installed. It launched without error.
The problem is 100% repeatable:
1. Install 3.5.3+build1+
2. Install firebug-
3. Restart browser
4. Core dump.
No crash dialog is ever displayed. When using the Mozilla-built binary, the crash never occurs. It appears to be specific to the Ubuntu build of FF-3.5.3.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.
You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager
I could not reproduce this in a clean profile.
