Jesusfreak, by using the proprietary, closed-source fglrx driver, fixes for bugs in this driver are limited to that provided by AMD. Despite this, please answer the following questions:
1) Could you please execute the following at the Terminal and post the results to this bug:
sudo lshw -C video
2) Does this issue occur with the newer version of the fglrx driver? One may test this via a Precise Live CD environment from: http://xubuntu.org/news/precisealpha2/ .
3) Does this issue occur with the open source ATI/Radeon driver? So you don't have to reconfigure your drivers, you may want to test this in an Oneiric Live CD environment from: http://xubuntu.org/getxubuntu/ . However, if you want to test this via your current install, please see: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver .

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → fglrx-installer (Ubuntu)

1) Output of sudo lshw -C video is:

       description: VGA compatible controller
product: Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series
       vendor: ATI Technologies Inc
       physical id: 0
       bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0

I will test 2) & 3) later.

I can confirm this bug, but would like to add that it happens with other "table displays", too (e.g. pgadmin3 sql query). Refreshing the table by changing the zoom level (ctrl+mouse wheel up/down) fixes the display.

I'm using debian 6.0.4, Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux,
updated to the latest driver I found on the website (amd-driver-installer-12-2-x86.x86_64.run), same behaviour.

I did the update ot Precise a couple of days ago and can confirm that the bug still is an issue with Precise.

I noticed this problem using Eclipse. I got a workaround - if I switch to XRender compositing instead of OpenGL, the text stays readable all the time. Tested with KDE
