Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1009276/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

I also have this issue with the Epson Stylus Office BX305FW Plus. Bother version 1.0.0 (recommended) and version 1.2.0 are affected. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin with all the latest updates.

The following is the output from /var/log/jockey.log:

I managed to work around this by doing the following:

Go to the URL in your jockey.log file:

e.g. http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/op/stable/debian/dists/lsb3.2/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr/

Find the appropriate binary (i386 or amd64):

e.g. http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/op/stable/debian/dists/lsb3.2/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr/binary-amd64/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.2.0-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb.

Go to the terminal and download to an appropriate location and install manually (as follows):

cd ~/Downloads
wget -c http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/op/stable/debian/dists/lsb3.2/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr/binary-amd64/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.2.0-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.2.0-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb

This will flag up some unmet dependencies, namely the lsb package. Simply do the following:

sudo apt-get -f install
sudo dpkg -i epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.2.0-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb

This should get the printer working whilst this problem is sorted for automatic installation.

For gutenprint driver, CANON PIXMA-MX880

I neglected to mention and thought it was probably pretty important:

I walked through the installation process (automatic, because I am a newer Linux user) on my new 13.01 install of Unbuntu and this printer install for the Canon PixmaMX880 worked flawlessly.

Later the same day when I walked through the exact same process on my older install of 12.04 Ubuntu (it's probably 6 months old) it failed with the above error "no trusted origin".

I am unsure whether the age of the Ubuntu installation or the version of the Ubuntu installation is more impactful, or both.
