Bug Description

EoG (42.0, Ubuntu 22.10.2)cannot open large images. The window contents remain blank and the application no longer responds to menu item clicks.

I downloaded the Full_Earth_disc.jpg file and observed the same behavior.

 $ apt-cache policy eog
eog:
  Installed: 44.0-1
  Candidate: 44.0-1
  Version table:
 *** 44.0-1 500
        500 http://192.168.10.7/ubuntu lunar/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Unfortunately the issue still persists.. Oddly, opening that image also causes the titlebar window controls to lose their symbols, leaving only the blank circle buttons.
