Bug Description

Please sync enchant 1.6.0-1 from Debian sid. See comment #3 for details.

Original description:

Although the version of enchant in Ubuntu is newer than the version in Debian (1.4.2) it does not have all the Debian specific changes that are in the Debian version such as support for the dictionary transition that happened last year.

I can do the merge if you would like.

You could just sync the new 1.6.0-1 I uploaded as a QA upload to Debian today. I practically took the Ubuntu 1.6 packaging, applied 1.4.2-3.4 - 1.4.2-3.6 changes that were not part of Ubuntu packaging and did a few additional fixes. The packaging is now also in git.

(btw it would be great if someone has time to be the new maintainer of enchant in Debian, since it is currently orphaned)

It should be just what the doctor ordered. Omitting the source format induced changes after dget -x:ing both, and config.sub/guess changes, attaching the diff between Debian's and Ubuntu's 1.6.0. Changes thus are:

- source format change to 3.0 (quilt)
- lintian cleanups
- packaging now in git
- importing enhancements in Debian's 1.4.2-3.4, 1.4.2-3.5 and 1.4.2-3.6 which were not yet in Ubuntu, and which were the reason for this bug report
