Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
I removed a Google Talk contact from Empathy. And I found out that it was deleted entirely from the Gmail Contact Manager. My intent was for them to not show up in the Empathy contact list, not to delete their phone number, mailing address, and who knows what else from Gmail. Data was lost. I'm very sure Pidgin does the right thing in this case.

In every release since Empathy became the default IM client, I keep giving it a shot and I keep finding it's not ready for prime time. It's again the case in Maverick. I'm going back to Pidgin.
