Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
The Clean theme in empathy sometimes stops autoscrolling. I have not been able to find a reproducer, but usually after several minutes of chat in a single window, it will no longer scroll, and I have to manually move the scrollbar down to see messages. When this behavior occurs, it does not correct itself usually (once, it did) and all messages in that conversation have to be manually scrolled.
Changing to the Ubuntu (adium) theme is a workaround.

The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/Bugs/ Upstream/ GNOME.
PS: I used to face this in Karmic but now I use ubuntu theme.
