Bug Description

Binary package hint: libc6

This concerns libc6 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.2 in Ubuntu Lucid.

I am running a debug build of Firefox inside GDB, due to bug #585061. I am finding that every so often, Firefox will SIGBUS inside the C library's dynamic-library loading routine when the application requests an Esound library.

I will attach a partial stack trace, and a debugger printout of the "l" variable.

What is notable about this crash is that l->l_name specifies a path that is served via the AFS network filesystem (specifically, the Flash plug-in library, which I keep in ~/.mozilla/plugins/), and at the time that the crash occurred, my authentication had expired and so my entire home directory was inaccessible. I am fairly sure that this bug comes down to eglibc not properly handling a library "disappearing" like that.
