Bug Description

I was burning a disk with using a DVD+R in my Bluray drive with k3b and it failed with:

[growisofs] 757956608/3970514944 (19.1%) @0.0x, remaining 7:16 RBU 100.0% UBU 100.0%
[growisofs] :-[ WRITE@LBA=5a5c0h failed with SK=3h/WRITE ERROR]: Input/output error
[growisofs] :-( write failed: Input/output error
[growisofs] /dev/sr1: flushing cache
[growisofs] /dev/sr1: closing track
[growisofs] /dev/sr1: closing session
[growisofs] :-[ CLOSE SESSION failed with SK=5h/SESSION FIXATION ERROR - INCOMPLETE TRACK IN SESSION]: Input/output error

After that I have been unable to burn any DVD. When I insert a DVD to either drive (both are burners) ubuntu doesn't recognize it as a device under the Available Devices icon on the desktop. It also shows no media for both drives in k3b. I have been able to burn to both drives in the past. When I insert a CD however the available devices pops up with Blank CD-R. I have tried multiple blank DVDs including Verbatim DVD+RW previously written (mounts only on the CD/DVD drive, not the Bluray drive), Memorex DVD+R DL (neither drive recognizes it), Platinum DVD-R (neither recognizes it), Sony DVD+R (neither recognizes it), and Memorex DVD+R (neither recognizes it). The CD/DVD drive recognized a DVD that has something on it whether burned or commercial but the Bluray doesn't recognize any DVDs.

Forgot to mention that this was on Lucid but I don't recall any updates prior to the problem. I then upgraded to Maverick to see if it fixed the problem but it didn't so I upgraded to Natty which still didn't fix the problem. I am currently running kernel 2.6.38-13-generic on Ubuntu 11.04.

I am not sure what package the bug originates in but growisofs is what seemed to trigger it. It may be a udev issue or something else.

affects: ubuntu → dvd+rw-tools (Ubuntu)
